Re: Eddies car find of the month
Crikey...that's a bit stunning...you know I'm partial to pistashio green Lotuses...but maybe not anymore, I'll stick with the un-noticeable grey one for the time being

Car this week is?Lotus Excel 1986 Ex Tony R
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/860298.htm
This is your chance to own an exceptional Lotus Excel SE with a unique history. Two special order items when new, are the metallic British Racing Green and full Connolly two-tone leather interior. The car carries the original Norfolk Lotus cars' registration and was first registered to the Technical Director and Chief Engineer of Lotus cars, Tony Rudd, a close personal friend of Colin Chapman. Tony went on to write a fascinating book entitled "Tony Rudd It Was Fun" describing his career with Lotus cars, a copy of which goes with the car. In the book he mentions owning this Excel and his experiences of driving it. There is also a special edition book about the Lotus Excel which goes into further detail about the development of engine and car up to the SE model which also mentions Tony Rudd. It includes several car magazine test reports of the day.
This one a special one.

Re: Eddies car find of the month
Aah Tony Rudd,
one of Britain's unsung heroes.
I can recommend that book; it's a good read for anyone who's interested in the development of engines, race cars & engineering.
He gave a lecture at Bristol Uni (many years ago ) which was fascinating. A lovely unassuming person.
Thanks for the memories
Cheers

Re:
Don't tempt me with another ... not just yet
Nice example though although I'm always put off with the half leather interior but apart from that the price is dam good for the mileage too. Must resist!
