Re: Midlands Meet - Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester
Lotus early days & the Elite being developed. Would that be the Mk14 Elite?
If so, where can a copy of that DVD be sourced?
What is the name of that DVD/Video please?
Thanks
John

Re: Midlands Meet - Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester
John, it was the new Elite, not the your beloved type 14. Never the less, it was a great DVD with some real 'classic' road tests and design detail, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. If you want to know more information about some rare motoring DVD's then Mike Stripe is a great source of knowledge (the83man) if you want to send him a PM.
Oh, by the way, Paul Matty has got a Type 14 racer up for sale. It's one I know quite well as it belongs to Christopher Ross (wrote a good book on the Elan and +2 amongst other things), A friend of mine - Richard Ball in Rugby did lots of seriously high quality work on it some years ago. It's a real stunner and up for sale at just a mere £55,000 do you fancy a go at historic racing?
Cheers, Tim

Re: Midlands Meet - Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester
Thanks a lot Tim,
I'll try & bend MIke's ear at Donington; he's sure to there, errm isn't he?
Now if I was still living in Henley in Arden I would have just popped over to Matty's.
Just imagine mixing it with Robin Longdon's DAD10 & that georgeous white one on Borrani's belonging to Malcomb Ricketts.
Trouble is, I keep forgeting where I put things, now where is that cheque book?
Senior moments they call 'em.
And another thing I forgot; did I ever say that you were a class wind up merchant
Cheers
John
Mk 14 Elite; the best looking road car that Lotus ever built!! That's not debatable

John, inflation is going mad over here right now...I said the Elite at Paul Matty's was a mere £55,000 - I've just checked their site and it's up for £69,500 , you should have kept yours...but I guess you know that anyway
cheers, Tim.

Re: Midlands Meet - Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester
Strange co-incidence; I checked out their site today & it's on there now.
It's very tempting at that price (not)
Just imagine what the price of DAD10 would be; now that's really scary!!
Yup if I'd had "the necessary" to hold onto my ex Lotus's I'd be worth a bit now:-
Seven S1
Cortina Mk1
Mk14 S1
Mk 23b
Think I'll get meself a beer to cry into now.
Have a good Weekend

Midlands Meet - Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester
Hi All just trying to find out who going to the meeting this week the weather looks good.
From Classic Team Lotus .
The Type 72 that we're taking is the car that Emerson drove. So lots of history!
We always show that DVD at every show and people just love it.
Below is some information about the DVD.
A collector’s edition of this famous 1973 documentary, join Colin and the Team as they win seven Grand Prix
and their sixth World Championship. Team members including Colin Chapman were miked up so that some fascinating behind the scenes moments were captured.
So if you still have not seen this dvd or your like to see this again come along this week meet.
Plus i have a small selection of the new polo shirt and the new caps as well.

We had a fabulous night watching this excellent DVD. For those of you that weren't there or haven't seen it before you are really missing out.
The blast up Goodwood with the camera on Emerson's shoulder is fantastic. The racing year with Colin Chapman and the team miked up so you can hear them all talking is unbelievable, a real in-sight into F1 back then, it makes the hairs stand up on the back of your neck...just brilliant
Thanks Eddie..
Tim.

Re: Midlands Meet - Arrow Mill Hotel, Alcester
I'm sure there will be a lot more attending the meeting, anyone who has experience of fibre glass repairs in the past will definately be interested, good fibreglass repair and painting is a real art and cannot be rushed. I hear Option 1 have a really good reputation for excellent quality so it will great to hear what they are all about.
The meeting was circulated to the midland area Club Lotus guys today so I'm sure some of them will be along as well.
Cheers,
Tim.
