Starter Motor
Turned key....
All panel lights on....
Turned key...
Lots of clicking and rattling from the starter but to rotation....DAMN.
Looks like either the solonoid or both are in need of replacement.
So out with the spanners.
Amazed at how easy it was to get the starter motor off.
30mins and there it is laid on the garage floor.
So now a call to Lotus Bits in the morning.

Re: Starter Motor
Hope you did some diagnostics before ripping the starter motor out, would hate to see you spend and struggle fitting the new one when it was a duff battery/connection etc.....

Re: Starter Motor
Tried turning the starter on the bench after I got it off.
Even direct on the battery there was to rotation.

Re: Starter Motor
It's done.
£45 and it was the solonoid that was knackered (that's a technical term)

Yeh.....sorted.
Got it on the car and it still didn't work, looks like it hadn't been bench tested.
So off it came again and yes, still *******
So stuff it phoned SJ Sports cars this morning and ordered a new one.
Not so cheap I think. Still it'll work when fitted and it'll be here in the morning.

Can hardly wait to get home from work tomorrow.
It's been three weeks without that lotus experience.
Well except the one under the bonnet any way.

New starter, earth lead and a battery.

I don't need petrol now I can travel on the starting system
