Donington Lotus Show

Have booked in at a Travelodge just down the road from Donington for Saturday night and have booked tickets for the MSVR Car Championships on the Sunday so that we can get outside in the nice weather again this year. Got a bit confused last year as we were given race tickets by Kim but never got asked for the tickets for the infield lol.

Don't think we will be coming up in the Lotus this year though, saving the mileage for Germany but we will be there for both days, and looking forward to it.

We will be there all weekend too. Staying in the Thistle with the LEF gang as usual. So we will see you there

New Travelodge has opened in Derby's Pride Park, 12 miles from Castle Donington ... £32 per night

The Lotus Car park was a bit mixed up today with vans ,fords and Lotus cars,

Stand looked good but having the tv turned up showing the Goodwood event with the Lotus 72 had to be turned down to load said the person from QED hmmm,

Yes it seemed to take them a day to get sorted with the parking rehearsal so come Sunday we had the main car park full of Lotus cars and the gravel one for the public and non Lotus cars ... ie Porsche etc

Was a shame about the Goodwood DVD, she was over like a bull out of a gate but that's enough said.
Tash has got some brilliant photos from the weekend and she was duly rewarded by a trip round Donington with Pesky on the Saturday, and thanks to Russ Treasure for the matching helmet.

All in all it was another brilliant weekend and I even managed to keep my hands in my pocket and out of the wallet.

Sounds like this is going to be confirmed for 2010 to be held at the Three Counties Showground nr Malvern. It is good news for us guys and gals down South but will be a shame not to have the usual track action on the same weekend.

Why the move?
Are the facilities at Donington no longer available due to the F1 work or has it become too expensive.
The nearby East Midlands Airport was very handy for Lotus Fans coming from Europe etc.
I understand that the "Trade support" for the Lotus gatherings is dwindling year by year is that possibly having an effect?

Hopefully one of our Club Lotus members who might know more will confirm one way or another, but maybe it's early days yet as nobody knows exactly whats happening at Donington, Bernie probably knows but I don't have his number

I just received the news in black & White.
The Show will take place on 17th - 18th April at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern.
The reason for the move from Donington being given as "due to the ongoing work at the Circuit"
