F1 2009 Season
Here are some of the rule changes for the 2009 season:
1)Constructors' Championship points no longer awarded to car manufacturer, ergo it can be assumed they will go to the engine manufacturer instead.
2)Innovative technology may only be used for one season, after which its "value to F1" is considered, and made part of the rules or not. Therefore, the governing body will decide what technology is in the cars, not the designers.
3)Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems, essentially a push-to-pass system powered by stored braking energy, will become mandatory for 2009.
4)Cars will be widened slightly, and a metre of extra space behind the rear wheels will be freed for various aerodynamic doodads.

Re: F1 2009 Season
F1 is entering its final death throws. The inovators are being strangled by regulations & there is too much money involved.
Trigger you've mentioned but only a handful of the new reg's, to say the least of what is planned; a horror trip.
I wonder if the financial situation will cause other manufacturers & sponsors to withdraw during the coming season.
Maybe Donington should be reconsidering the F1 plans they have?
'Tis doomed; doomed I say
On the plus side, it will be interesting to see what coverage is given by the BBC compared to ITV.
I'm hoping it's all going to be in HD?
The new Sat dish (1.25m) & receiver are already up & running here in Dachau
Cheers
John

Re: F1 2009 Season
I'm certainly looking forward to the season....I've got a ticket for Silverstone...yipee !
Whatever the new regulations do, then I hope it makes the drivers work hard and show us some real overtaking and excitement. The first report I saw of Massa testing the new Ferrari at least makes the car look more like a proper racing car rather than a mass of aerodynamic and wing testing lab on wheels. Anyway, we will have to wait and see, at least I hope the BBC will put it back on as it should be, no adverts and hopefully with some proper music at the start.
Tim.
