Insuring everyday and classic car Empty Insuring everyday and classic car

Post  Trigger Thu Jan 29, 2009 3:12 am

I am looking this weekend at buying a 2005 Proton Gen-2 GLS as my everyday car to use to and from work etc to take the stress off the Lotus especially in the winter locally in the forest. I am already paying, hold your breath, over £1000 for my insurance on the Lotus Elan with Lancaster Classic.

Insurance costs for me on the Gen-2 are looking around £500, but obviously this means I will have to look at a new policy for the Lotus. My first option is to take out insurance on the Proton with say Churchill and then go to someone like Hagerty for specialist insurance on the classic.

Secondly, Admiral multi car are offering to insure both cars for just over £900! Has anyone got any advice or insurers who are likely to be a good deal for me. I cannot use places like Heritage as I am still only 22 and am required to be 23 on a lot of classic insurers.

The more help and advice the better, especially if it will save me money lol.
