Re:
Who would honestly buy a car that slows itself down ... certainly not me! Interesting idea but not really sure it will take off for a very very long time and it won't effect those buying second hand cars if they are only thinking of installing them in new ones.
Re: Speed Limiting Cars
Now I do agree with 'correct and proper speed resitrictions' in the right place and the correct limits.
However from the text
'The speed-limiting devices will then use satellite positioning to check a vehicle's location and when its speed exceeds the limit, power will be reduced and the brakes applied if necessary.'
Now I would want to be behind something that would brake without the driver being
aware it was about to. How would he/she react.
I've driven the Nottingham ring road a nice stright forward answer in areas that NEED this
is the specs cameras. In urban or motorway conditions these seem to work.
Near schools, extend no parking areas to clear road areas and install speed bumps.
The small estate I live on has several speed bumps an all four roads.
Even the nutters with baseball caps on backwards drive sensibly.
All much cheaper and easier options that then impacts on all motorists in the area that needs these controls.
Having said that we have a speed bump right off our drive way.
In the summer when sleeping with the windows open I hate the milk man more than my first wife.
My betting would be that the only people who would install these are the sort that religiously stay 1mph under the limit anyway.
