Elan +2 DHC, Edinburgh
Hi Folks,
thought I would introduce myself after stumbling across the site.
I'm Chris, I live in Edinburgh and own a Graphic & web design business. When not working my main past time is my toys. At present that consists of 1985 Chevy Camaro, 1978 Triumph Spitfire which has a 3.9 rover V8 squeezed in to the engine bay, 1972 Series 3 Land Rover and my newest pride and joy 1972 Elan +2 DHC.
I bought the car from a friends father who has had it in his garage for the last 15 years. Since coming out of hiding I have basically had it mot and tuned. For the last few months its been in the coach works getting a major body overhaul, its should be going in to colour in the next week.
At present its white, but I have decided to change it to Lagoon Blue.
Below are a couple of pictures before the work started
Cheers
Chris

Re: Elan +2 DHC, Edinburgh
Looks as though it's withstood the test of time for 15 Years very well.
It's very nice in White. I hope you've got a Man who knows about Fibreglass to do the Paint Job.
I've never been bothered about Spitfires, except the Merlin Engined sort but yours seems to be approaching that level.
Someone must have worked some "Big Magic" to keep it stuck to the Road, not one of the originals finer points.
Cheers
John

Re: Elan +2 DHC, Edinburgh
Thanks for the welcome.
She has stood up well for 15 years in a garage. He looked after it well, it was mot randomly over the 15 year period, luck if it covered 500 miles over that period.
Decide I'm getting it painted Lagoon Blue, center of the alloys in graphite grey.
When the body shop started on the car they found lots of hidden horrors, door skins coming away from frame, couple of bad repairs. They have worked hard so far, fingers crossed final outcome is how I expect it.
Anybody on this forum from Scotland or NE England??

Re:
Welcome Chris.
There are a group of us taking part in a tour of Scotland at the end of May this year. Some are doing a long weekend and others (including myself) are taking part in a week long visit. Would you be interested in joining us over the weekend or one of the days during the week? There is an accommodation itinerary on the website which should give you an idea of where we will be on what days. Follow the links below:

Nice looking car. Considering they were a conversion, the hood fits very well and suits the car.
Any pictures with the hood down?
Cheers
