Race Predictions
Bahrain Grand Prix - 14th March
Come on then lets see who can best predict the results of the first race for 2010. This will undoubtedly be the most difficult to foresee, so top marks to the winner! Here's my top 3 and just as important, the Lotus result;
1st; Fernando Alonso (Ferrari)
2nd; Lewis Hamilton (McLaren)
3rd; Michael Schumacher (Mercedes)
12th; Heikki Kovalainen (Lotus)
14th; Jarno Trulli (Lotus)
being conservative for good luck

Re: Race Predictions
This is worse than playing the lottery. I think the 'no refuelling' rule will throw a few spanners. Race length testing proved that the laptimes will vary hugely hroughout the race and it will be so easy for the set up to be wrong at either end of the spectrum of fuel and weight. I think even the 'top four' teams will need some luck in getting this right first time out in race conditions. Also it will be so easy to flat spot a tyre with such heavy cars etc etc etc. As for the Lotus, it was still about 4-5 seconds off the pace at the Barcelona tests but was showing good reliability. They said thay had some good data, knew which direction to move te set and have had a bit of time to implement those changes - let's hope so. I think Jarno is better able to drive the car over a wide range of conditions/settings but Heikki could be quicker if everything is perfect. So they could well luck a double finish in the first race which would be amazing. Assuming a clear run when others have problems could leave them quite high up......
So heres' my guess:
1. Hamilton
2. Alonso
3. Button
9. Jarno Trulli (very optimistic!)
12. Heikki Kovalainen

Re: Race Predictions
Wow such faith in New lotus.
My guess is ( usually miles out, I think I came last in the F1 game)
Pole - Hamilton
1st Button( deja vu)
2nd Vettel
3rd Webber.
and Lotus - any result would be great - it's the Cosworth power output which worries me!

Well done Tash
Tash wins the second race!
All her drivers scored points, 28 in ALL, chris close with 27!
Tash also closest to Heikki who finished 13th.
Well done!
Me, LAST, hero to zero.
I am going to have to think hard for predictions for the next race, 1 week to go, Malaysia is it monsoon season?

Re: Race Predictions
Malaysia
Difficult to call as it could well rain again which can really throw a spanner in the wheel as we saw at Australia. Makes for good tele though.
So my order is :
Alonso
Vettel
Webber
I don't think the McLarens have the outright speed yet.
Trulli 18Th
Heikki 19th
I think Barcelona where lots of teams will have major upgrades could be a turning point, Lotus have lots of upgrades for then and I hope it brings them a bit more speed.

Re: Race Predictions
Good job I haven't put any money on it so far, but at least I thoroughly enjoyed Australia, unlike Bahrain where I would have been better off buying a tin of Dulux and watching it dry! ...and yes they can overtake if they want to.
Here's mine for Malaysia:
1st. Vettel
2nd. Button
3rd. Alonso
11th. Heikki
14th. Trulli

Re: Race Predictions
I couldn't agree more Tim, although Melbourne has not been one of the Races that I usually enjoy that one was good.
I wonder how all of the Engines will get on during their 3rd Race? Interesting times!
It was a shame about Vettel, he's certainly driving well.
Of course I was very pleased that Jenson won, one up for the West Country & I expect he can afford a pint of Scrumpy now regardless of the price increase.
Oh, try Water based Acrylic it dries very quickly; it'll give you time to hear the Grass grow, which is what I'm doing now whilst knitting with only one Needle.
John
P.S. I don't do tips. One of my ancestors was extremely rich but spent all of his wealth on 3 legged Horses.
A lesson well learned, not inheriting a Silver Spoon.

BMW-Sauber-Ferrari????
Help someone, please!
Where's the BMW connection now?
Are they still pouring Money into F1 like they did with Rover due to some contractual agreement?
Thanks
John
(Yes I know I should know the answer myself )

Re: Race Predictions
Blimey...this is getting more difficult each race! I read that Lotus are hoping to get both cars over the line this weekend instead of just one, then introduce performance up-grades for Europe so lets hope we then see some real performance - (unless the volcanic ash halts them!).
I'm going for:
1.Hamilton
2. Vettel
3. Alonso
13th Trulli
15th Heikki
(I reckon our LDC man CAM might get 19th position this Saturday at Silverstone )
Cheers Tim.
