Brilliant - made me laugh anyway,
On a more serious note I guess none of these items ( Brakes/Accelerator)
will affect the newer Lotus models ?

Re: Thought For The Day
I own an 80's MR2 which is built incredibly well, over engineered you could say but solid has done over 250k. In the early 00's I bought a brand new RAV 4 and it was useless ! Build quality was iffy, paint finish very thin, materials cheap and nasty......So promissed myself then I would never subscribe to a Toyota again, sad it is a case of the money men getting in and putting profit before design and engineering.............again !
It doesn't supprise me at all they are in this situation, Toyota isn't what they used to be 15 years ago !!
Still it means the Prius will become even MORE environmentaly damaging than it is with the shipping of those new parts, manufacturing polution etc etc...... Still that was a great marketing campaign to fool so many into thinking they are green !!!

RECALLS ARE AN EVERDAY FEATURE OF MOTORING
LIST OF RECALLS
I just don't get this lastest Toyata recall scandal. Car manufacturers do it all the time. My own Exige has been the subject of three recalls and across the industry there have been thousands in recent years. In most cases the manufacturers simply do the 'fix' at the next service point unless iut is truly dangerous (a are event but it does happen ocasionally)
If you want to see just how many recalls there have been have a look at the web site above and start searching. Your car may well be listed............
Can anyone explain to me why Toyota is getting such a hard time over theirs????????

Re: Thought For The Day
I think they are getting a hard time because it all started in America. Many yanks think Toyota is responsible for the demise of their American brands and their workforces. I heard something on the news that the recalls are being reported by the American media "with glee" and it is being "whooped up".
That figures, because like Mike states, there are thousands of recalls that never make any headlines. There is almost certainly a bit of political agenda to the way this is being reported and handled.
In engineering terms the Japanees in general have pushed the boundaries of inovation and technology far more than European makers and for the main part I applaud them.
I think what sums it up best is that there was some American supposedly driving their Toyota on the freeway when the brakes had failed, the recording goes "OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, WE ARE GOING TO CRASH,WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE." They didnt do either (who said shame) but it was on the news. I think said driver would have been better of using both hands to drive instead of their gob.
That way they could have coasted to a nice serene stop. IMHO.
