Evora
OK what do we think.....
Technically a stunning car.
Looks good from all angles.
The mechanics and performance figures all read for an excellent drive.
Handling, well it's a Lotus.
However, looking at the pics a 2+2 it isn't
Bit of a broad use of that definition I think.
But useful space for luggage and after all I very rarely use the rear seats in mine.
Then as a marketing product.
A the price and against the other cars in the band.
Not so sure. The others (Porsche, Mercedes, Nissan etc) have mass production units to a high spec.
When you look at the depreciation of the Europa would you go higher up a marques range.
With good build and quality control, a robust dealer network support and a car that provides as much in the 'cost of ownership' area as it does in looks the its a sure fire winner.
If it leaks in the rain then someone is going to have £45K reasons to be unhappy.
So fingers crossed for a continuation of a successful launch.
The car makes as much impact with the press as it has the Lotus public.
The factory are given a full order book and run a six days week.
May the Evora have successful run as long as the Elise has been, if not even the Esprit.
Then maybe in 15yrs I'll be able to afford one of the early one and Lotus will still be around making the bits.
It will all hinge on product quality of perhaps the first years production.

Re: Evora
Yes I would like to know more about how the Evora is defined in the current Lotus models available as we have a pretty good understanding of the small super car performance Exige and the long distance tourer that is the Europa but I'm unsettled as to where the Evora fits in? Is it more of a supercar than anything else Lotus has produced? It certainly has the price tag to be well above the crazy Nissan 350z but not really up there contending with the range of Porsche 911's.
It will be interesting to see where this one fits in the range or if anyone else has any ideas on where it will stand but I'm sure Top Gear will give it a good going over this series

Re: Evora
Went to the Motor Show on Friday and saw the Evora, it's absolutely gorgeous. I think if they pull it off it will be a fantastic thing for Lotus and what with the new Esprit following in 2010 this is a good chance to really make an impression

Re: Evora
at 45k (starting price) i think they will sell the 2000 a year they want to make. so in that case Lotus should do what they set out to do. it is a stuning car both in and out.

If it doesn't sell then it means I can afford one sooner lol ...Paul D13 wrote:at 45k (starting price) i think they will sell the 2000 a year they want to make. so in that case Lotus should do what they set out to do. it is a stuning car both in and out.
