Re:
Congratulations for finishing 3rd in class Russ ... really unlucky race one but was made up several hours later in race two by a great performance and even better result. Problem is though I think you've got Tash and me hooked on it now so we expect good results this year. Nah seriously well done and good luck for Snetterton next month, hopefully see you there.
Plenty of photos to follow ofcourse ...
Re: Round 3 - Anglesey 16 May
Cheers Chris & Tash - you have some real enthusiasm there to stand and watch in that awful weather!
Just a quick report - I have too much on to go into detail (sorry!).
We set off in race one and made a good start but on the entry to
the back straight Andy Dolan had spun and sat in the middle of the
track. It was either hit him in the drivers door at around ninety MPH
or spin off to the right, which I did. Rejoining at the back we made
some progress as others spun at the same spot. One of them was
rejoining as we went past and latched on to us for a couple of laps.
Obviously frustrated the guy ran out of talent at the first hairpin and
crashed into the side of us under braking with his wheels locked. This
bounced him back on track but put us out for the rest of the race.I
came back in to check for suspension/steering damage but we were lucky
and plenty of duct tape sorted the body work.
Race two we were in fifth position (in class) off the grid and,
after more spinnage on the corner before the back straight, emerged in
second on the first lap! What followed was eleven laps of defensive
driving which involved keeping Andy Dolan behind whilst backing him
into the faster guys behind. They kept him busy for a while but our
heavier, underpowered, car was not pulling away from the battle behind
and only good exits onto the straights were maintaining a margin in
which we could not be outbraked. Andy unfortunately succumbed to Marcus
Jewell on the last lap and I made a mistake on the second-to-last
harpin which gave him a better exit and he braked into the last corner
ahead and took second. It was lucky that we were on the last lap by now
as the other car would have got past for sure but we took the flag in
third.
All in all a very enjoyable race and plenty of handshakes all
around for some very close, and clean, racing. It was great to pick up
our first trophy since entering the production class last year and
thanks to all the people who helped us improve the cars' handling - all
we need now are the mods to get the max power allowed in the class and
to lose about 40 kilos. We might even win one!
Cheers
Russ

Well done Russ, great to hear all about it, we are certainly looking forward to Snetterton next month, you'll need a bigger trophy cabinet if you carry on this way, and losing 40 kilo's, is that off you or the car ... you'll get blown away in the wind
Cheers, Tim.
