Save Donington Parade
Had this email today would you like to go and give your support .
One for Blue Cam .
Eddie King.
Hello,
I wish to bring to your attention the "Save Donington" support day on 7th March.
What started off as a few cars driving to the track, has turned into a major event, with displays, TV/radio interest and a huge autojumble (please see flyer attached).
I was hoping to encourage members of your club to attend, with an offer of a designated area for your vehicles to be displayed.
Please visit the website
www.savedonington.co.uk
and spread the word around your club. The more marques can turn up, the better the day will be.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kindest regards,
Lee Coombs

Save Donington.
I would like to attend this. Do we know what time the kick off is and would we attend as a club, if so would we be thinking of meeting up and running to Donny as group. I suppose details will be finalised nearer the time. I have looked on various links and so on but don't seem to have come accross any definate times and destinations as such or am I missing something?

I'll be with you all in Spirit & hope you have a good Day.
Can anyone offer some up to date news of the progress so far?
Some Photos would be great.
The Donington Web Site is so out of date that there's Moss growing on it.
Cheers
John

Re: Save Donington Parade
I think I read somewhere that the negotiations with a new 'operator' are nearly done and the Wheatcrofts will be making an announcement early March. They then plan to get it sorted quickly and racing to be back on very soon.
So hopefully that will happen...I wonder if Jonathon Palmers lot will be doing it?
Tim.

Re: Save Donington Parade
Tim, Mike,
that's really good to hear.
Let's hope they really pile it on & get Motor Racing going ASAP.
No doubt VSCC & HSCC have been worried about the loss of the Venue.
I still think that Ecclestone should dig his hands into his very deep Pockets & present GB with a top GP facility.
He is of course quite tiny so I expect his Arms won't reach into those Pockets

Re: Save Donington Parade
Rather worryingly John, HSCC completely avoided a date at Donington in 2010. Maybe it was a wise commercial decision but I think it's a shame when so many other clubs took dates in the hope tha all would be well. I can understand why anyone would pull out but what we did (VSCC) was add another date at another venue in case we didn't get Donington (Pembrey 25 July). This wouldn't be so easy for HSCC with so many championships, of course.
I wouldn't hold you breath for an early season race meeting but I'm sure we'll see racing at Donington in 2010. VSCC is currently scheduled for 2/3 Oct.
BTW Tim, I hear that JP has not taken it as a MSV circuit but I could be wrong.

Re: Save Donington Parade
Going slightly off Topic here but I'd like to know if VSCC or HSCC run any Race meetings at Anglesey?
I've looked at the Anglesey Event Calender but at the moment it's a bit scanty.
I've seen a house for sale that would suit me nicely in Barmouth just a short drive away from Anglesey.
Cheers

Re: Save Donington Parade
I see the gates open at 10am .
Clubs and feature displays are advised to arrive closer to 8am if possible. Hopefully, with the promised turn out, this should turn into quite a display in itself – so make sure you’ve been busy with the polish!
I'm leaving Kenilworth at 9 see you there ,
Eddie.

John,
VSCC do not currently hold a race meeting at Anglesey and even HSCC find it a bit 'far out' I think. But it's a brilliant circuit and twice I've tried to arange adte there for VSCC but on both occasions it hasn't worked out for one reason or another.
I think Anglesey has an excellent niche market slot for track days but there is no doubt in my mind that it would be worth driving a motorway through to make it more accessible to the racing community who all somehow tend to feel it's at the end of the earth - that's the sort of thing government should be spending money on!

Re: Save Donington Parade
Oh, I guessed that may have been the case, it also being one of my worries about settling in Barmouth, being so far from everywhere.
150K for a detached House with a double Garage & Sea views is however very enticing.
I've also heard that Anglesey glows in the dark
Cheers

Re: Save Donington Parade
Hi John, check out Classic sports car club, they run a race meet at Anglesey, I have a friend who lives up there who travels down to help with my car on race days occasionally, his house overlooks Anglesey from the mainland, he is last house up the mountain so has spectacular views.
Good luck if you move there

Re: Save Donington Parade
Yes the place where club lotus hold their event is still there.
The part of the track they made a big tunnel is full of water but the good news it down to three people to take over but would not mention who they were 1.5 million to get the track up and running. did video the interview will pass it to CJ to see if he could load it on the forum.

That is disappointing. Kevin had said that the announcement would be made today. I hope nothing has gone wrong..........
